About
My name is James. I am a Ph.D-level chartered engineer.
I have worked in a diverse set of industries and environments, covering design, R&D and manufacturing. I have trained on and used many of the CAD packages used in industry. I have a lot of experience doing simulations and finite element analyses (FEA) and have additional experience with knowledge-based engineering (KBE). I am familiar with many manufacturing processes, both standard methods of manufacturing and some esoteric ones. I am familiar with many computer programming languages and have used them to create tools and applications.
I specialize in fact-finding and problem solving, removing the element of speculation as much as possible from a given analysis. I am a big believer in looking outside of the box and taking pride in producing quality work, both in terms of technical application and in presentation and reporting.
I am also a specialist in electrochemical processes and operations and have applied this knowledge to projects in electrochemical machining, electro-etch, electroplating of gas turbine components and work involving the manufacture of electric vehicle power cells.
I have used my programming skills to develop FEA and KBE tools for engineers in order to accelerate their work and minimise administrative tasks, targeted programming efforts that make a difference to the overall workload.
I am also qualified to teach and have some classroom experience.
If my skills, knowledge and experience are of interest, please feel free to contact me.
